Big Rhino Children's Community located in Nyahururu, which is 5 hours NE of Nairobi, Kenya, is a community that, as of February 2024, has expanded to 100 children rescued from the Nairobi slums who range from preschool to college age and are under the guidance of Geoffery Kiiru, who grew up in the same slums. The Barbara Dougan Foundation provides school tuition, food, rent, transportation, and general living expenses. We also helped them build 3 buildings and equipped them; one for girls, one for boys and a common area. The Foundation also provided land for a fenced garden. Most recently the Foundation has provided extra funds to make critical infrastructure repairs to three key buildings.
In February, 2024, the Foundation provided college tuition and medical insurance for 17 young men and women from BRCC. This will give them a chance to acquire technical skills that will lead to jobs.
