The Barbara Belle Ash Dougan Foundation is proving books for the city of Portland, Oregon. As of February, 2024, we have grown to 6,521 children enrolled. This effort is a natural extension of the 20+ years Barbara has been reading books to children at a local grade school.
the dolly Parton Imagination Library is a book club where the parents register their children ages 0 (newborn) to 5 years old and the child has a different book mailed to them every month, all for free to the participants.
The books are age appropriate. The parents can help read with the children until the children can read for themselves.
The foundation and Dolly Parton Imagination Library share the costs of the program for the children in the city of Portland. The state of oregon is set to contribute some finanical aid to this very worthwile endeavor and is a work in progress.
