The Barbara Belle Ash Dougan Foundation has committed as a major sponsor to the construction of a new school in the Naivasha area. Recently, a vacant school in Mirera, less than a kilometer from a proposed site, was put up for sale. Members of the Community Based Organization (CBO) toured the property and in general it met with approval.
Overall, the school buildings are in good condition with the need of some painting and window repair.
The existing school was purchased and after much work the buildings were repaired and made fit for learning.
As of early August 2021, the work of teaching has begun. There are a total of 22 young women in form one (freshman), 12 in form two (sophomore), and 14 in form three (junior). We are expecting the enrollment to rise until we reach our capacity.
But the work is not over yet. The Barbara Belle Ash Dougan Foundation has approved further improvements. Construction is about 50% complete as seen in the photo gallery below:
